Oversized aluminum downspout for a retail facility

A large retail location needed an oversized 9" × 9" downspout with multiple bends that no gutter supplier stocks. We designed it, laser cut it, formed it, and riveted it.

THE PROBLEM

What the customer brought us

A large retail facility needed a replacement downspout — but not a stock one. The building's drainage called for a 9" × 9" section, four feet long, routed around obstructions with multiple bends. Commercial gutter suppliers top out well below that size, and the facilities team had no drawings — just the old spout and the path it had to follow.

WHAT WE DID

How we built it

We designed the downspout in-house from field measurements: developed the flat patterns for each bent segment, laser cut them from aluminum sheet, formed the bends on the press brake, and riveted the assembly — the standard joining method for architectural aluminum drainage, avoiding weld distortion and finish damage on thin sheet. Design, cutting, forming, and assembly all happened under one roof.

THE RESULT

What the customer got

A drop-in replacement that matched the building's drainage path exactly — delivered as a finished assembly the facilities crew could hang without field modification. Oversized architectural sheet metal that catalogs don't carry is a design-and-build job, and that's the work we're set up for.
